Man, I sure love my life and my job as an Asheville photographer! I get to meet great people, walk around in the sunshine, play with kids and explore beautiful landscapes! I met this small family the other day at one of my favorite hills not too far from my neighborhood. I primarily use this hill/field during the winter months because in the summer, the grass gets too tall. In fact, one time shortly after I discovered this location, I took a high school senior girl and her mother to this spot for her session. This senior was going to wear her prom dress and I was gong to photograph her at the top of this big hill during the Golden hour (as the sun was as setting). We reached the top of the mountain only to discover that the grass was waist high – and I’m not exaggerating! She was a trooper. We did the shoot and her photos looked lovely.
Anyways, this is why I don’t normally use this location during the the summer months. Two weeks before this family’s shoot, I noticed they mowed the big hill and the morning of the shoot, the big round bales were still there. Yea!
I was thrilled – but little Bianca was not! The grass wasn’t waist high but it had been a couple weeks since it had been mowed so it was fairly long for a four year old with little legs. Bianca didn’t like the grass touching her bare legs. She kept asking me when we were going to go inside to shoot? I had to let her down easily and tell her were weren’t. Anyways, her parents carried her some and it all worked out.
This is a GORGEOUS setting and would love to do another shoot soon at this spot before the grass gets too long so call me ASAP if you want to do a family, child or engagement session here.
