Welcome to my blog!

I've encouraged tickle fights and squishy hugs for over six hundred families. My people are fun, down-to-earth and find joy in parenthood, all the while keeping it real with a little humor, and even a cuss word or two.

HI. I'M LINNAE HARRIS.

Black Bears in Asheville, Pepper and Poppy

I have continued to look for the yearlings every day….ok, if I’m honest I’ll have to admit that I look for them several times a day. I’ve met lots of other neighbors who keep tracks of the cubs too. We miss them if a day goes by and we don’t see them; fortunately today was not one of those days. My friend called to say one of the yearlings was wedged in a tree in her fenced in yard and later I saw the other cub in his usual hang out. I say “his” because I know now that this yearling is a boy. I use a 300 mm lens so it allows me to get up close and personal and I caught a peek of his under side.

My kids decided we should give the cubs names since they have become such an important part of our lives these days. We decided on Pepper and Poppy (since they’re black). I can’t find any distinguishing marks though to tell the two cubs apart. They seem to be the same size and coloring.

When I first arrived this cub, who I’ll call Pepper, was sleeping comfortably as you can see.

Some day soon, I need to get back to photographing people! My sister said I would be rich if I could get the mama bears to hire me to take portraits of their cubs! 🙂

Here’s some pictures I took on other days.
